At 2.00 am ET Wednesday, the Office for National Statistics has published UK consumer and producer prices for December. The pound advanced against its major counterparts after the data.

The pound was trading at 155.49 against the yen, 1.2466 against the franc, 1.3609 against the greenback and 0.8328 against the euro around 2:02 am ET.
