Enel SpA (ENEL.MI) said late Thursday that it has further increased its offer for Eletropaulo Metropolitana Electricidade de Sao Paulo SA (ELPL3.BR).

The Italian company said it has increased its offer for Eletropaulo to 32.2 Brazilian reais ($9.24) per share, from an earlier offer of BRL32 per share.

The bidding war for Eletropaulo had escalated overnight on Wednesday after rival bidders Iberdrola SA (IBE.MC) and Enel raised their respective offers for the Brazilian utility.

The offer remains conditional upon, among other things, the acquisition of a total number of shares representing more than 50% of the share capital of Eletropaulo, said Enel.
