Unilever PLC (ULVR.LN) said Wednesday that its board remuneration policy was approved at its annual general meeting, but with only 64% of votes cast in favor.

All resolutions that were put in front of shareholders were approved at the meeting, but the pay proposal attracted levels of support well below the other motions. The other motions all passed with support in excess of 90%.

Executive pay has been a contentious topic and has received increasing amounts of shareholder scrutiny as of late.
