German engineering conglomerate Siemens AG said Tuesday that its mobility arm has won a light-rail vehicle order worth almost 400 million euros ($472.5 million).

Siemens Mobility received the joint order for 109 of its Avenio HF high-floor light-rail vehicles from public-transportation providers Dusseldorfer Rheinbahn AG and Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft AG.

The vehicles will be used on the light-rail network that covers the neighboring cities of Duisburg and Dusseldorf and will also run to the cities of Neuss, Krefeld and Meerbusch.

The contract also includes an option for an additional 48 units as well as maintenance and service for the Duisburg vehicles for 24 years, with an option for a further eight.

A 24-year spare-parts supply contract was also signed for the Dusseldorf vehicles, Siemens said.

The first vehicles will be delivered in 2025, the company said.
