                Notification of interests of major shareholders                

We were notified on 17 December 2003 that Trefick Limited had acquired 587,633
ordinary shares (2.5%) in the capital of HR Owen Plc on 15 December 2003. This
brings the number of shares held by Trefick Limited to a total of 827,633
(3.53%) representing a material interest.
