                Michael Murphy Appointed Non-Executive Director





Datamonitor plc is pleased to announce the appointment with effect from 3rd
September 2003 of Michael Murphy as a non-executive Director.



Michael, 38, is currently Chief Executive Officer of Friends Reunited. He
previously had a twenty-year career with Pearson plc and held several senior
positions, including Managing Director of Financial Times Business, culminating
in Chief Operating Officer of the Financial Times.



There are no disclosures to be made in respect of paragraph 6.F.2 (b) to (g) of
the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.



Commenting on his appointment, Michael said



'I am looking forward to working with the team at Datamonitor and continuing
with the good progress the company has made during the past year.'
