EssilorLuxottica SA said Tuesday that it has named Francesco Milleri, who is currently chief executive of the company, as chairman following the death of Leonardo Del Vecchio on Monday.

The Franco-Italian eyewear maker said that Mr. Milleri will act as chairman for the remaining duration of his term, and that he will remain CEO of the company.

EssilorLuxottica also confirmed Paul du Saillant as deputy chief executive officer, it said. It added that the board is examining whether to appoint a lead director among its independent members, and that a final decision about it will be made by year-end.

Finally, Luxottica said that it has co-opted Mario Notari as a new director.
