Vivendi SE said Monday that revenue grew in its first quarter, including at its core media business.

The French media group made quarterly revenue of 2.38 billion euros ($2.57 billion), an organic increase of 7.9% from EUR2.1 billion in the same period last year. The comparable result is adjusted for the results of Universal Music Group NV, which has been spun off and listed separately.

Media group Canal+ booked a 6% increase in revenue to EUR1.45 billion, with growth across business activities including French television, international operations and the Studiocanal production business.

Looking ahead, Vivendi said it is confident of the resilience of its core business to the continuing affects of the global pandemic. As for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it remains difficult to assess the indirect impact on the group's business activities ahead, Vivendi said. The company is present in Ukraine through its Gameloft business and certain communication activities, Vivendi added.
