Alphabet Inc.'s Google will open its first Japanese data center next year, according to a blog post by the tech giant on Oct. 6.

The move aims to provide consumers in Japan more access to Google's tools and services and connect the country to the rest of the global digital economy.

The data center, located in Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo, is part of a $730 million infrastructure investment that started in 2021 which will continue through 2024,Google said.

"According to a recent Analysys Mason study, Google's network infrastructure investments in Japan, both past and present, could enable an additional $303 billion in GDP between 2022 and 2026," the company said.
