UGC Selects Key Partners for Accelerated Digital Rollout in The
Netherlands DENVER, June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
UnitedGlobalCom, Inc. ("UGC") (NASDAQ:UCOMA) today announced a
number of key vendors as leading technology partners for its plans
for an accelerated rollout of digital television to UPC Broadband's
analog cable subscribers in the Netherlands. These partners
include, among others: Thomson, Pace, Scientific-Atlanta, Philips,
Kudelski (Nagravision), and OpenTV. As recently announced, UGC's
UPC Broadband division expects to begin in the fourth quarter of
2005 a large-scale digital rollout project in The Netherlands. As a
result of this initiative, UPC Broadband expects to eventually
deploy over 2 million digital set-top boxes with related middleware
and security and conditional access systems, in order to accelerate
the growth of digital television in the Dutch market. Sudhir
