DALLAS, March 7, 2013  /PRNewswire/ -- Oncor hosted its annual Supplier Diversity Awards Recognition luncheon today, honoring business partners and employees with the company's highest supplier diversity award, the Omnis Award.

More than 200 business leaders and Oncor Supplier Diversity participants attended the event, which included remarks by Oncor Chairman and CEO Bob Shapard and Oncor Chief Operating Officer Jim Greer.

In his opening remarks, Greer explained how the work with our diverse partners continues to contribute to Oncor's goal of a creating a brighter future for Texas. 

"Oncor is a company that truly cares about the communities where our employees live and work," he said.  "We have been a vital part of Texas for more than 100 years, and we're making investments for the next 100 years. To put it simply, we are Texans who care about the future of Texas, and we are proud to partner with you as we work to serve an incredibly diverse area with a rich history. We want to make sure that our actions continue to move our communities forward."

The Omnis Award is given each year to companies who show excellence in supplier diversity, business efforts and community outreach. This year's Omnis Awards went to three businesses: Hazel's Hot Shot, accepted by President Hazel Marshall; Imagination Branding, accepted by Owner  Jan Nathanson, and TexCorp Communications, accepted by Chairman and CEO Don McKneely.

The Corporate Rising Star Award was given to CCCi and accepted by owner and CEO Charleen McBrayer. CCCi is a recent technology partner for Oncor that has demonstrated a commitment to diversity within their business and has also made a clear commitment to community outreach.

Oncor also gave out two internal awards. The Group Award went to Oncor's Communications group for their constant efforts to get Oncor's supplier diversity programs recognized in the media and among employees, as well as their use of diverse suppliers for communications projects.

Oncor Chief Customer Officer Brenda Jackson won the Individual Recognition Award for her significant and consistent contributions to the development and utilization of diverse companies. Supplier Diversity Manager Grace Hastings presented Jackson with the award.

"Throughout her career she has been a champion of supplier diversity," Hastings said. "She believes in inclusion to her core, and she is passionate about it. Her efforts have led to partnerships with diverse suppliers that have truly been a win-win for Oncor and the suppliers."
