Corporation (OTCBB: VCST) will have a live demonstration of CEA-708
closed captioning, a new Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
mandate for IP-delivered content, using the new
GoStream® portable streaming system in Booth #219 at
Streaming Media East, May 21-22 at
the Hilton New York. ViewCast, a developer of industry-leading
solutions that enable companies to capture and deliver video to
broadband and mobile networks, will perform the demonstration using
Ustream, one of the first content delivery networks (CDN) to
support live CEA-708 closed captioning from end to end. CEA-708 is
the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) standard for
closed captioning for digital television.
Latest Software Enables Closed Captioning
Version 7.2 of Niagara SCX® video streaming software
supports embedded CEA-708 closed captioning for specific encoders
on Niagara HD systems. The new GoStream portable system, loaded
with Niagara SCX version 7.2, will use the Osprey 820e capture card
and the new Osprey 800 series audio card in the demonstration.
The Osprey 800 series audio card offers additional external
audio inputs such as balanced, unbalanced and AES/EBU. The audio
card will be available soon at a competitive price.
Reinhardt to Review Niagara GoStream Portable
Robert Reinhardt, creator of
videoRx.com, will give a "hands on" review of the GoStream portable
at a pre-conference seminar "How To: Evaluating the Effectiveness
Of Your H.264 Encoder," Tuesday, May
21 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Reinhardt is internationally regarded as an expert on multimedia
application development and online video, particularly in HTML,
iOS, Flash and AVC/H.264.
Following in the footsteps of the successful Niagara 9100
series, the new portable platform will be able to accommodate a
wide variety of Osprey capture cards featuring high performance at
very competitive prices.
Additional Demonstrations
Other demonstrations in the booth, sponsored by Graphics
Distribution Incorporated, will include Osprey Preview software
that provides common functionality for all Osprey drivers.
NextComputing, a manufacturer of high-performance computing
platforms, will demonstrate the Osprey 800e series cards with VMix
software on its mobile platform.
