Press Conference, L.A. County Board of
Supervisors’ Meeting, Tuesday, June 18 @ 11 am
FLUX, a national organization dedicated to creating safe spaces
for Trans and gender non-conforming individuals, will take part in
a press conference hosted by the TransLatin@ Coalition to continue
to urge the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to institute
the Trans Wellness and Equity Care Initiative in Los Angeles
County. FLUX will join the TransLatin@ Coalition in calling for Los
Angeles County to invest in the Trans community through funding the
organizations that Trans individuals and teams lead.

“Through this county-city partnership, our local elected leaders
can champion an investment from the Board of Supervisors of $7
million and $3 million from the L.A. City Council and Mayor’s
office towards a historic investment for our communities to not
simply survive, but to thrive and be integrated in the civic fabric
of our society,” said Bamby Salcedo, M.A., President/CEO,

During the Board meeting, Trans advocates will formally present
results of a countywide study conducted by the Williams Institute
of UCLA on ‘The Quality of Life of Trans People in LA County’ to
back up its request for funding.
"Legislative bodies can do more than just recognize pride or
issue resolutions, they can choose to be tangible allies and
earmark monies to invest in Trans lives," said Queen Victoria
Ortega, International President of FLUX. “During Pride month we
are looking to go beyond commendations and awards, we want tangible
resources invested in Trans lives.”
