Kyndryl, the public company that would be created by the separation of International Business Machines Corp.'s infrastructure-services business, named Harsh Chugh its chief operating officer.

Mr. Chugh is currently the chief financial officer of PlanSource, a benefits-administration company. He previously served as an IBM executive, including roles in the company's global-markets and digital-business organizations.

Kyndryl's separation from IBM is expected to be finalized by the end of the year. Martin Schroeter was named its chief executive in January and David Wyshner its finance chief in July.
