Shares in SIMEC Atlantis Energy Ltd. dropped on Thursday after
the company said that the Welsh government has blocked Natural
Resources Wales from making a determination on the permit variation
application for the conversion of the Uskmouth power station.
The energy company said NRW had previously indicated that it was
minded to award the variation to the existing permit to allow the
coal-powered plant to run on fuel pellets.
"SAE will consider all available legal options and will seek to
ensure that the Welsh Government understands how critical this
project is to South Wales, Newport, to key industries and the
hundreds of employees whose jobs are at risk," the London-listed
company said.
Shares at 0839 GMT were down 0.75 pence, or 33%, at 1.55
pence.
