The Turkish Lira weakened against the U.S. dollar in the
European session on Wednesday, amid a win vote in the landmark
Kurdish independence referendum in Iraq that was held despite
opposition from Baghdad and neighbouring countries.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened to impose
sanctions against the Kurdish region as he views the referendum as
a threat to its own national security and would trigger separatism
among its own Kurdish population.
The Turkish Lira slipped to more than a 2-month low of 3.5840
against the greenback, compared to Tuesday's closing value of
3.5376. The next possible support for the Lira is seen around the
3.7 region.
