Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) on Monday reported an unplanned electricity issue that led to equipment shutdowns and gas emissions at its refinery in Baytown, Texas.

"Temporary power interruption caused unplanned CLEU-3 [Catalytic Light Ends Unit] compressor shutdowns, resulting in CLEU-3 safety valve reliefs and safe utilization of the flare system," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. "Subsequent FCCU-3 [Fluid Catalytic Converter Unit] CO [carbon monoxide] boiler shutdown resulted in elevated emissions at the wet gas scrubber."

It said the emissions began Sunday afternoon and lasted about 11 hours. "There is minimal impact to production," the refinery added. "We expect to meet our contractual commitments."

The 561,000-barrel-a-day Baytown refinery is located 25 miles east of Houston.
