Unilever NV (UN) on Monday said it has acquired The Laundress, maker of eco-friendly laundry and cleaning products,

Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

The Laundress, founded in 2004 and based in New York City, has a portfolio of 85 products. Unilever said the acquisition "expands Unilever's portfolio in the growing top end of the Home Care market and fits greatly with Unilever's Sustainable Living Plan."

Unilever also said The Laundress will keep its headquarters in New York City and the brands co-founders, Gwen Whiting and Lindsey Boyd, will remain to run the business, including The Laundress' New York flagship store.
