Petroleo Brasileiro SA (PBR), or Petrobras, said it was restarting a gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracking unit after a maintenance shutdown at its Pasdena refinery in Texas.

Statements from the refinery to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality said the FCCU was shut down Sunday "to perform required maintenance," during which times above-normal emissions happened for more than seven hours. It added that a startup process for the FCCU then began Sunday night and could last until Tuesday.

The 110,000-barrel-a-day refinery is located in the Houston area. Chevron Corp. (CVX) said earlier this year it has begun a deal to buy the Pasadena refinery from Petrobras from $350 million. The 466-acre complex includes a storage tank farm and other assets.
