Unilever PLC (UN, UL) said it is recalling certain lots of Ben
& Jerry's ice cream in the U.S. because they may contain tree
nuts that aren't declared in the ingredient or allergy-information
lists.
The consumer-products giant said the recall involves a limited
quantity of Ben & Jerry's Coconut Seven Layer Bar bulk
containers and Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey pints that were made
in the U.S. and distributed to retail stores and ice-cream
shops.
Unilever said the products could contain undeclared almonds,
Brazil nuts and hazelnuts, which pose a risk to consumers with an
allergy or severe sensitivity.
Unilever said the recall stemmed from an error by one of its
suppliers, adding that no illnesses have been reported, and that it
has corrected the issue.
