Procter & Gamble Co. (PG) said Wednesday that it will cut 30% of plastic packaging from its European fabric-care brands by 2025.

The company said that by 2025, the brands, which include Ariel and Lenor, will cut the equivalent of more than 15,000 metric tons of plastic a year from 2018 levels.

Meanwhile, the company is aiming for 100% recyclable packaging use for the brands by 2022, it said.

"We're determined to drive a step towards circularity, so that no plastic from our brands' packaging finds its way into the oceans or landfill," Volker Kuhn, vice president of fabric care at P&G, said.

P&G didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on whether the company has a similar plan for its fabric brands in the U.S.
