--BP PLC (BP) has signed a deal to explore for oil and gas off the coast of Gambia, the government of the African nation said, Reuters reported.

--A statement from the office of Gambian President Adama Barrow said representatives from the oil company met at the presidential palace, but gave no further details, the report said.

--BP didn't immediately respond to requests for comment, the report said.
