GBPJPY Pound Sterling vs Japanese Yen

As expected, the Bank of England maintained the benchmark rate at 0.75 percent and asset purchase program at GBP 435 billion.

After the announcement, the pound retreated from its early highs against its major counterparts.

The pound was trading at 1.3037 against the greenback, 145.36 against the yen, 1.3284 against the franc and 0.8596 against the euro around 7:04 am ET.
