ENI SpA (ENI.MI) and the Angolan government have signed a memorandum of understanding and a number of agreements that launch a strategic partnership on sustainable development, the Italian company said Wednesday.

"The agreements are part of Eni's long-term development strategy that combines traditional business with a commitment to diversified and sustainable growth in the territories in which it operates," it said.

The agreements cover areas such as local development, renewable energy, health promotion and hydrocarbon research.

The parties also signed contracts for the acquisition of mineral rights and a concession agreement for a photovoltaic plant in the province of Namibe.
