Compass Group PLC said Tuesday that it has appointed Ian Meakins as its next nonexecutive chairman, succeeding Paul Walsh.

Mr. Meakins will join the FTSE 100 contract caterer's board on Sept. 1 and take over as chairman on Dec. 1 when Mr. Walsh steps down from the board, Compass said.

Mr. Meakins was previously chief executive of Ferguson PLC, Travelex and Alliance Unichem, Compass said.
