Airbus SE said Monday that it has received an order from European satellite operator Eutelsat to build a multi-mission geostationary telecommunications satellite called EUTELSAT 36D.

The satellite should be launched during the first half of 2024 and will have an operational lifetime of more than 15 years, the European plane maker said.

"The EUTELSAT 36D spacecraft will replace and enhance capacity at 36°East, a key orbital slot for Eutelsat for TV broadcasting (DTH) and government services over Africa, Russia, and Europe," it said.

Airbus didn't disclose the financial details of the deal.

This is the 26th Airbus satellite ordered by Eutelsat, it said.
