Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE have reached an agreement to expand the supply of their Covid-19 vaccine to Turkey, the companies said Thursday.

The pharmaceutical companies behind the first Covid-19 vaccine that was authorized for use in the U.S. late last year said they will supply 60 million additional doses of their vaccine to Turkey, with an option for 30 million additional doses.

In December, the companies had agreed to supply Turkey with 30 million doses. The new agreement brings the total number of doses to be supplied to Turkey to 120 million.

The companies said they plan to have all the doses available this year for Turkey, which has a population of more than 80 million. Two doses of the vaccine are administered to each person.
