           Appointment of Richard Hooper as a non-executive Director

i-mate (London AIM: IMTE), the specialist in Microsoft Windows Mobile(R) devices
and software applications, is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard
Hooper CBE as a non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 1
December 2006.

Mr Hooper, aged 67, is currently Chairman of Informa plc, a non-executive
Director of Yell Group Plc, and Managing Partner of Hooper Communications.

Previous directorships include Deputy Chairman of Ofcom (2002 to 2005), non
executive director of Superscape plc (2000 to 2002), Chairman of the Radio
Authority (2000 to 2003), non executive director of United News & Media plc
(1996 to 1997) and non executive director of MAI plc (1993 to 1996).

Commenting on the appointment, Jim Morrison, Chief Executive of i-mate
commented:

both industry and the quoted arena is extensive and I look forward to his
