LONDON--Pumping from Libya's Zueitina oil pipeline its export
terminal have restarted following a blast Tuesday, the country's
National Oil Co. said Thursday.
The explosion at the oil pipeline in the eastern part of the
country was due to sabotage, a person in the oil and gas industry
said earlier Thursday. It's unclear who committed the sabotage.
NOC said on its website it had successfully restored the flow
from the pipeline, which transports oil from Austrian oil and gas
company OMV AG (OMV.VI) and the U.S.'s Occidental Petroleum Corp.
(OXY).
Oil facilities in Libya are frequently disrupted by locals
seeking better working conditions and oil-revenue redistribution.
Though they are rarely sabotaged, there are also fears that Islamic
radicals could target them.
