Cathay Forest Products Corp. (TSX VENTURE:CFZ) ("Cathay Forest" or the
"Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Run-Peng Wei as Chief
Operating Officer of the Company, effective immediately.


Dr. Wei will be responsible for overseeing all of Cathay Forest's forest assets
with focus on Fast Growth Plantations and Standing Timber operations in China
and Russia as well as for the Forest Stewardship Council ("FSC") certification
process of Cathay Forest's forestry operations in both countries. In addition,
Dr. Wei will oversee the development of the jatropha plantation of Eco-Energy
China Group Inc.("EEC"), a company in which Cathay Forest owns a significant
equity interest.


Dr. Wei holds a PhD in forest genetics from the Swedish University of
Agricultural Sciences and has decades of experience in the forestry industry.
Over the years, more than 34 papers written by Dr. Wei have been published in
scientific journals along with 4 books covering topics including plantation
management, ecosystem management and genetics.


Most recently, Dr. Wei has been Director-Research & Development for a
China-based publicly traded forestry company as well as General Manager of that
company's biotechnology operations.

The FSC certificate is a global standard for labeling wood products sourced from
environmentally responsible forestry and is independently certified by the
Forest Stewardship Council, an international non-profit organization promoting
responsible management of the world's forests.
