Mantra Mining Inc. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:MAN). The Company is pleased to
announce that Rick Van Nieuwenhuyse, M.Sc., has been appointed as the Chairman
of the Board of Directors of the Company. Mr. Van Nieuwenhuyse, the President
and Chief Executive Officer of NovaGold Resources Inc., upon assuming management
of NovaGold in 1998, successfully assembled a portfolio of world-class
properties and a team of top industry professionals who turned NovaGold into one
of North America's premier development stage mining companies, poised to become
a mid-tier gold, silver and copper producer. Rick's vision and ability to follow
through can be attributed to his 30 years of worldwide experience in the natural
resource sector, including time as Vice President of Exploration at Placer Dome.
Rick brings years of working experience and knowledge of Alaska, Western Canada,
Africa and Asia, and has managed projects from grassroots discovery through to
advanced exploration, feasibility studies and production. Rick holds a
candidature degree in Science from the Universite de Louvain in Belgium, and an
M.Sc. in Geology from the University of Arizona.


Raj Chowdhry, President of the Company, stated, "Mantra is delighted that Rick

Lindsley Award at this year's PDAC mining conference in Toronto has accepted the
position as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mantra. Rick's overall
back ground and experience together with his knowledge and familiarity with
Alaska will allow Rick to guide the directors and management to successfully
continue to build shareholder value."


Furthermore, Jerry Zieg, M.Sc., CPG has agreed to join the Company as the Vice
President of Exploration. Jerry had joined NovaGold as a Senior Geologist for
the Ambler project in 2005 and since 2006 had been responsible for the direction
and oversight of the company's U.S. exploration efforts. Jerry has 30 years of
experience as an exploration geologist working throughout the western U.S.,
Alaska, and internationally. Jerry's experience includes exploration for both
sediment-hosted and volcanic-hosted massive sulfide deposits, porphyry copper
deposits, epithermal gold deposits, sediment-hosted gold deposits,
carbonate-hosted base metal deposits, and copper-cobalt and copper-nickel
deposits, Prior to joining NovaGold, Jerry had spent 24 years working for
Cominco American Inc. and later Teck Cominco American Inc. Jerry has an M.Sc. in
geology and a B.A. in geology from University of Montana.


Mr. Chowdhry notes, "Jerry Zieg brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of
the precious and base metal projects recently acquired by Mantra from NovaGold.
Jerry will enable Mantra to plan and conduct exploration work, especially on the
Colorado Creek project in an expedient manner, a property which has many
geologic similarities to the 40 million ounce Donlin Creek gold deposit located
in the upper Kuskokwim region of the Tintina Gold belt of Alaska and the Yukon."


The Company, in due course, will provide further details of the planned and
budgeted exploration work on the projects in Alaska, once such details have been
finalized.
