The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX.AU) said Friday it has
fined UBS Securities Australia A$55,000 for two offenses.
On Nov. 3, UBS put in an order on behalf of a client for
ordinary fully paid shares of Suncorp-Metway Ltd. (SUN.AU) and
A$12.74 put options in Suncorp expiring Sept. 24 but the client had
mistakenly transposed the figures for price and volume, the ASX
said.
That resulted in markets for Suncorp shares and the put options
that were "not both fair and orderly".
Separately, between May 30 and Nov. 3, a UBS employee who wasn't
registered as a designated trading representative put trading
messages into the trading platform.
The exchange charged the firm A$25,000 and A$30,000 for each of
these violations.
