FPU Florida Public Utilities

The Board of Directors of Florida Public Utilities Company (NYSE Amex: FPU), at its meeting held on August 12, 2009, declared a quarterly dividend of $0.1200 per share on the Company's common stock, payable October 1, 2009 to shareholders of record at the close of business on September 11, 2009.

At today's meeting, the Board of Directors also declared a quarterly dividend of $1.1875 per share on the Company's 4-3/4% Cumulative Preferred Stock, payable October 1, 2009 to shareholders of record at the close of business on September 11, 2009.

This is the 63rd consecutive year the Company has paid a quarterly dividend.
