Arrhythmia Research Technology, Inc. (AMEX: HRT) announced that its
wholly owned subsidiary Micron Products Inc. (Micron), has
entered into a five-year supply agreement with ConforMIS, Inc.
Micron, through its Micron Integrated Technologies and Leominster
Tool divisions, will provide manufacturing services for the
ConforMIS Knee Interpositional Device, the iForma, for use in the
treatment of patients with early to moderate osteoarthritis.
ConforMIS develops unique, patient-specific implants capable of
re-establishing normal articular alignment and relieving pain in
patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. Each device is
manufactured to conform to an individual patient's unique anatomy,
allowing for maximum tissue preservation and minimal surgical
trauma. Preserving bone stock is especially important to younger
and more active individuals. The ConforMIS iForma is a small,
lightweight, personalized metal implant designed for patients with
early to moderate osteoarthritis in either the medial or lateral
compartment of the knee. It fits into the affected compartment
between the femur (thigh bone) and tibia (shin bone) and helps fill
the lost cartilage, restore the knee's proper alignment, and
prevent painful rubbing of the bones during ambulation. Its precise
fit to the structure of the joint allows the surgeon to easily
insert the device through a small incision, achieving functional
fixation without the need for cement or screws. The iForma allows
patients to return to light to moderate physical activities and
allows for easy revision to other procedures in the future, if
necessary. James E. Rouse, President and CEO of Arrhythmia Research
Technology, Inc., commented, We are very pleased to have been
chosen by ConforMIS as the turn-key manufacturer of the iForma.
This opportunity to augment our manufacturing capabilities to
include finished medical devices represents just one success in the
continuing efforts of our business development team to expand and
diversify our business. The agreement calls for the iForma to be
the first in a series of ConforMIS products to be manufactured by
Micron and its divisions as we expand upon the close working
relationship that has developed between our two companies. Micron's
expansion into medical device manufacturing for an OEM customer
such as ConforMIS complements our proven capability as a high
quality manufacturer of components for medical products." Patrick
Hess, Ph.D, CEO of ConforMIS commented, Micron provides us with
the manufacturing and service excellence to continue building our
unique value proposition to our customers. We evaluated a number of
manufacturers and found Microns flexible manufacturing operations
and commitment to helping us scale over time to be unique. Given
our rapid growth and patient-specific manufacturing process, we
were pleased to find a manufacturer who demonstrated a willingness
to work with us as partners. About Arrhythmia Research Technology,
Inc. ART, through Micron, manufactures silver plated and non-silver
plated conductive resin sensors and distributes metal snaps used in
