LEGGMASON INVESTORS INCOME & GROWTH TRUST PLC (the "Company")



The Board, after discussions with the Banks, has concluded that a further
reduction in indebtedness is necessary in the aftermath of sustained and
substantial falls in equity markets. Accordingly, it is the intention to repay
approximately #900,000 of bank debt plus swap breakage charges on the loan of
approximately #97,706.06.
