Publication of Audited Accounts and Changes to Board
The board of Mano River Resources Inc. announces that copies of the audited
accounts of the Company, for the financial year ending January 31st 2003, are
available for collection from its UK office at Suite One, 12 Station Road,
Didcot, OX11 7LL.
At its recent 2003 Annual General Meeting in Vancouver, Jonathan Challis (51)
was elected in place of Peter Dwerryhouse, who had previously indicated he would
not be continuing as a director. The Board would like to express its
appreciation to Mr Dwerryhouse for his valuable contribution to the Company,
notably in brokering Mano's 1998 reverse take over of Zicor Mining.
Mr Challis is a mining engineer with over 30 years experience in the operation,
management, financing and analysis of mining projects around the world.
Currently President of Shore Gold Inc., a Canadian public company focused on
diamond exploration in Saskatchewan, he has a degree in Mineral Exploitation
from University College, Cardiff, and an MBA from Cranfield University, England.
He holds the South African Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency, is a Fellow
of the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy and a Chartered Engineer.
Mr Challis started his professional life as a Mining Engineer with Gold Fields
of South Africa Ltd before returning to Europe as a mining analyst for James
Capel & Co, Barclays Bank Ltd and McLeod Young Weir, prior to relocating to
Toronto. In 1994, he joined CM Oliver as a Director and Senior Mining Analyst,
moving to Ivanhoe Capital Corp in 1997 where he was involved in numerous early
stage exploration ventures, then joining Shore Gold as President in 1999.
Between 1996 and 1999, Mr Challis was on the Board of DiamondWorks (DMW) and
became familiar with that company's diamond assets in Sierra Leone, where DMW
controls the larger of the Koidu pipes which are immediately adjacent to Mano's
Yengema EPL (see map at http://www.manoriver.com/mano/projects/
diamonds_sl_kono.shtml) and are presently being redeveloped for production by
DMW and Magma Diamond Resources.
Mano's CEO, Dr Tom Elder, comments: "Mr Challis brings to Mano extensive
experience in both diamonds and gold, and of West Africa and the Mano River
Union countries, at a crucial time since finally, after a very challenging
decade, all three Mano River Union countries may soon re-integrate into a
peaceful West Africa. This it is hoped will kick-start an economic recovery in
Liberia hard on the heels of the one seen in Sierra Leone since early 2002.
Mano's efforts in pioneering the discovery of resources that may in the near
future become significant hard-rock gold and kimberlite diamond mines, should
contribute to this historic opportunity."
On behalf of the Board of Mano River Resources Inc.
