Valuation Losses on Securities Portfolio as of September 30, 1997 and Revision
of Interim Earnings Forecast for Fiscal Year 1997.

The Daiwa Bank Limited ("the Bank") has announced the revision of the earings
forecast for the first half of fiscal year 1997 (April 1, 1997 - September 30,
1997) originally announced in May 1997.

This revision is due primarily to the increase of valuation losses on the Bank's
stock portfolio incurred from the decline of stock market.
