Dragon Oil plc - Notification of Interest in Shares pursuant to Sections 67 - 79
of the Companies Act 1990

We refer to the notifications to you dated 22nd July, 18th August and 28th
August, 1998 in respect of an overseas securities lenders' agreement between
Belle Corporation, Normura International (Hong Kong) Limited ("Nomura") and
Sumitomo Finance International plc ("Sumitomo").

We hereby notify you that, with effect from 8th December, 1998 Normura and
Sumitomo have terminated the loan of securities under that agreement pursuant
to which ordinary shares of IEP 0.25 each in the share capital of Dragon Oil plc
("Shares") were delivered to it.

Please note that, notwithstanding the above, Nomura and Sumitomo alone have a
continuing interest immediately following such termination in 39,179,059 and
26,119,373 Shares respectively which Shares are currently registered in the name
of Nomura Nominees Limited.
