Yarlington appoints 24 year-old to join its Board
Yarlington Housing Group is delighted to announce the
appointment of Jimmy Overill as co-optee to the Group's Board and
Yarlington's youngest Board member.
In October this year, Yarlington partnered with CIH Futures to
recruit for a young professional, under the age of 30, to join
their Board as a co-optee.
With young non-executive directors as the minority across all
sectors, Yarlington is keen to ensure that the housing sector has a
viable future and the next generation of leaders are given the
opportunity to build their career and influence how the housing
sector works.
On his appointment, Jimmy said:
"I can't wait to get started in my role as a co-optee Board
member at Yarlington. I can't begin to express my gratitude to the
organisation for firstly giving me the opportunity, but secondly
for being brave enough to step out and promote the contribution
young people can make in this space. What I intend on bringing to
the Board is bags of passion, ideas and the commitment to have a
voice on the key issues facing Yarlington."
At 24, Jimmy is a Development Officer in the property team at
Plus Dane Housing in Liverpool. Prior to this, Jimmy attended
university in Leeds where he studied sociology, focusing his work
on proposed regeneration of East London as a result of the London
2012 Olympics, from a housing perspective.
As a developing and innovative organisation, Yarlington also
aims to better reflect the changing demographics of its customer
base, enabling fresh perspectives and challenging debates to its
Board meetings.
On Jimmy's appointment, Yarlington's Chief Executive, Caroline
Moore said:
"I am delighted to welcome Jimmy to Yarlington's Board. This is
an exciting opportunity for Jimmy to develop his non-executive
career, and also for Yarlington as we continue to innovate in our
thinking.
"This appointment ensures that the leaders of the future can
influence the way we work, and I look forward to working alongside
Jimmy and valuing the diversity that he brings to the Board."
Yarlington will provide Jimmy with guidance, mentoring and
training throughout the duration of his position and through his
appointment, Yarlington hopes to encourage more young, talented
people to consider housing as a career and to promote the
investment in aspiring housing professionals.
