                                (the "Company")


The Company announces that yesterday it despatched notices of redemption and
repayment to its stockholders following the proposed early repayment by Charter
European Trust plc of its loan to the Company. For each £100 nominal of Stock,
it is proposed that the redemption price will be £149.8725 together with
interest accrued up to the date of payment. The Company will take steps to
procure the partial redemption of the Stock at the close of business on 24 May
2002 and as at 25 May 2002, the Stock will continue trading at £1 in nominal
value.
