           Statement re increase in share price and current trading           

The Board of Park has noted today's rise in its share price and confirms that
it has received a tentative approach that may or may not lead to an offer for
the entire issued share capital of the Company.  It is emphasised that this
interest is at a very early stage.  A further announcement will be made in due
course.

Since the announcement of interim results on 3 December 1999, the internal
reorganisation of the Park Group's businesses has continued and as indicated
in that announcement, the trading environment in each of the Group's
businesses remains challenging.
