STATEMENT REGARDING GO RACING CONSORTIUM

The Board of Arena Leisure Plc ("Arena Leisure") announces that it is pleased
to note that the Racecourse Association (RCA) has today issued papers to its
members stating that "good progress" has been made in its exclusive
negotiations with the Go Racing consortium regarding the award of television
and media rights associated with UK horseracing.

The RCA also states that it is "nearing the end of that process" of agreeing
the final contract and that it expects an agreed contract will be sent to its
member courses for

consideration by 7 February 2001.

The papers being issued by the RCA today are in relation to the convening of
an emergency general meeting of the RCA to be held on Tuesday 30 January 2001
to discuss this and other issues.

Arena Leisure believes this is a further significant step towards the
conclusion of negotiations between the UK racing authorities and the Go Racing
consortium, of which Arena Leisure is a shareholder, for it to acquire the
television and media rights associated with UK horseracing.

The Board of Arena Leisure is being advised by Deutsche Bank in connection
with its investment in Go Racing.
