Biotrace International Plc, a leading manufacturer of industrial microbiology
products was informed today that as at close of business on 19 October 2006, The
Goldman Sachs Group Inc. ("GS Inc"), was interested, by attribution only, in a
total of 1,637,422 Ordinary 10p shares of the Group. The interest in 1, 637,422
ordinary shares arose from a beneficial interest held by Goldman Sachs
International, a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of GS Inc.

This notification relates to issued ordinary shares in the capital of the Group
and is given in fulfilment of the obligations imposed by sections 198-203 of the
Companies Act 1985.
