BRITISH SMALLER TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES VCT PLC

ISSUE AND ALLOTMENT OF ADDITIONAL SHARES

The Company announces that on 10 July 2000 it issued and allotted an
additional 95,000 ordinary shares of 10p each (with warrants attached on a 1:5
basis), representing approximately 0.69 per cent. of the issued share capital
of the Company, to one subscriber.  The new shares were issued at a price of
105p per share.  Application will be made at the earliest practicable
opportunity for these shares, which will rank pari passu with existing
ordinary shares, to be admitted to the Official List of the UK Listing
Authority and to trading on the London Stock Exchange's market for listed
securities.
