                              CMR Fuel Cells Plc

                           (`CMR' or the `Company')

                    Appointment of Chief Commercial Officer

CMR Fuel Cells plc, the award winning company seeking to commercialise fuel
cell technology for the portable electronics industry, is pleased to announce
the appointment of Stephen A. Barlow as the Company's Chief Commercial Officer
(`CCO').

The decision to appoint a CCO at this time follows encouraging progress on two
key fronts. The first of these are the recent technical achievements that the
Board believes have positioned the Company to overcome the logistical and
commercial hurdles that have otherwise impeded the mass adoption of fuel cell
technologies by the portable consumer electronics market. The second, as we
outlined at the time of our interims, is the commercial interest received from
Asian electronics OEMs that require dedicated personnel to manage.

Stephen's chief responsibilities will be to manage and progress the increasing
level of commercial interest in CMR's technology from a number of these Asian
electronics OEMs.

Stephen is a commercial professional with over 15 years of experience in global
sales, marketing and senior management for both established and early-stage
companies. He has a great depth of experience within the portable consumer
electronics industry in which he has procured sales approaching US$100m.

Most recently, Stephen was Vice-President of Sales & Marketing at antenna
developer, Antenova, where he was responsible for commercialising the company's
unique technology by driving global sales and marketing activities. During his
tenure, Stephen managed to personally secure substantial revenues from global
OEMs including Sony Ericsson, Dell and Siemens.

Of further benefit to CMR is the significant time Stephen has spent dealing
with companies throughout Asia. As part of his commercial activities in Asia
Stephen successfully signed contracts with major Chinese OEM TCL as well as
Taiwanese mobile phone handset and laptop OEMs Compal, Quanta, Arima and Asus.

Prior to Antenova, Stephen ran the European Sales operations of antenna market
leader Galtronics Ltd who's sales then comprised 40% of the total GSM market
with volume sales to Nokia Mobile Phones, Motorola, Panasonic, Alcatel, Philips
Electronics and Mitsubishi.

Stephen holds an MBA as well as further Executive Education at Harvard Business
School. Stephen will not be joining the Board of CMR.

Stephen Barlow commented:

"I am continuously asked by OEMs how to achieve longer equipment run-times.
CMR's technology is the most exciting development I have seen in this field and
one that has the potential to revolutionise the portable power market. I'm
hugely excited to join such a pioneering company and strong team and look
forward to contributing my experience to the successful commercialisation of
CMR's technology."

About CMR Fuel Cells plc:

CMR Fuel Cells plc is a UK developer of fuel cell stacks for portable and small
stationary power generation applications. The Company plans to become a leading
supplier of fuel cell products, based on its simple but revolutionary patented
stack architecture which has the potential to deliver longer run-time and lower
costs than conventional fuel cell stacks.

As documented at the time of the Company's flotation, CMR's unique architecture
can be applied in a range of fuel cell applications including portable
electronics, combined heat and power and automotive to deliver significant
improvements in power density performances using a range of chemistries.
However, it is the intention of the Board to initially commercialise the
Company's technology within the consumer electronics industry where there is
sustained and growing demand for smaller, cheaper, longer running power
solutions for portable electronics devices based on direct methanol fuel cells.
This demand is being driven by the increasing power requirements of portable
electronics devices which have outgrown incremental improvements in the
performances of traditional battery chemistries. As a result, consumer
frustration with short 'run times' is compelling the electronics industry to
develop and deploy suitable alternatives for power delivery. It is widely
accepted that direct methanol fuel cells represent a solution to the power
requirements of portable devices and are also capable of eliminating the need
to recharge devices by having an interchangeable fuel cartridge system
equivalent of instant recharging.

In 2005 CMR were:

  * Winners of the 2005 Carbon Trust Overall Innovator of the year award

  * Winners of the 2005 Carbon Trust Individual and Small Businesses award

  * Selected as a Red Herring Top 100 Europe company - (previous Red Herring
    winners include Google and eBay)

  * Selected by Harvard Business School as one of 25 companies 'most likely to
    change our world by 2010'

  * Selected by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer for 2006
