Trading update

ClearSpeed Technology plc ("ClearSpeed" or "the Company"), (AIM: CSD), a leader
in high-performance co-processors for supercomputing applications, announces a
trading update for the year ended 31 December 2006.

The Company expects to have achieved revenues of more than #1.9m in 2006 - an
increase of more than 300% over 2005. As expected, most of the Company's
revenues were achieved in the first half of the year, following the successful
delivery of its first major order to Sun Microsystems and the Tokyo Institute of
Technology.

With the benefit of tight cost controls, the Company finished the year with
higher-than expected cash balances of more than #11.5m.

In December, ClearSpeed launched its AdvanceTM Board solutions for the Financial
Services Industry, alongside channel partners IBM and AMD. This launch was
highly significant, representing ClearSpeed's entry into the commercial volume
market. Using off-the-shelf AdvanceTM technology, Financial Institutions running
complex financial programmes will benefit from higher performance and
considerable cost savings.

The launch received a favourable response from potential customers and the Board
anticipates that revenues from this market will help to smooth the unpredictable
revenues from High Performance Systems in the current year.

ClearSpeed achieved a significant milestone in November when its accelerator
technology helped the Tokyo Institute of Technology's TSUBAME supercomputer
achieve a top-10 ranking in the benchmark listing of Top500 Supercomputer Sites.
At number nine, it was the first "accelerated" supercomputer ever to be listed
in the Top500 ranking. Furthermore, it was a clear market validation of
ClearSpeed's AdvanceTM Boards as a way to accelerate supercomputer performance
at lower cost, and with dramatically-reduced power consumption.

ClearSpeed has made significant technical and commercial progress in the second
half of 2006 and the company is engaging with an increasing number of customers.
The Board believes these achievements, combined with the growing demand for
acceleration, have laid strong foundations for continuing growth.

About ClearSpeed Technology

ClearSpeed Technology designs high-performance accelerators that work alongside
conventional computer processors (CPUs) in some of the world's most demanding
applications. ClearSpeed's advanced technologies offer significantly higher
computing speeds than the most powerful CPUs, but use far less electrical power.
Based in Bristol and San Jose, the company has 84 patents granted or pending and
its products include computer chips, boards, software tools, applications and
support.

About the ClearSpeed AdvanceTM Accelerator Board

The ClearSpeed AdvanceTM Accelerator Board sits alongside conventional computer
processors and handles complex mathematical routines, dramatically increasing
the speed of applications.

At the heart of the AdvanceTM Accelerator Board are two ClearSpeed CSX600 chips,
each with 96 processor cores that work in parallel to solve complex mathematical
problems. A single CSX600 chip can perform a sustained 25 billion high-precision
calculations per second, whilst using less than ten watts of power - an
unprecedented performance ratio unmatched by any rival system.

Because conventional processors consume so much electricity, the cost of
powering and then cooling them begins to limit the development of
high-performance supercomputers, which typically cluster hundreds or thousands
of CPUs together to form a powerful system.

The design of the ClearSpeed AdvanceTM Board reduces the cost of powering these
supercomputers by lowering the overall power consumption while significantly
increasing performance. As a result, it has the potential to open up new areas
of research in fields that require low-cost supercomputing power, such as drug
discovery, finance, engineering and exploration.

The ClearSpeed AdvanceTM Board is currently offered as a plug-in board that can
be easily fitted as an upgrade to a workstation, server or cluster.
