French renewable power company EDF Energies Nouvelles SA (EEN.FR) Wednesday said it has commissioned the Mexican wind farm La Mata La Ventosa, which has a total installed capacity of 67.5 MW.

MAIN FACTS:

- La Mata La Ventosa wind farm is situated in the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico, in the Tehuantepec Isthmus where wind resources are particularly favorable, the company said.

- It comprises 27 turbines with a capacity of 2.5 MW each, supplied by US manufacturer Clipper Windpower (CWP.LN).

- The electricity generated by the wind farm will meet the consumption needs of a number of stores owned by retailer Walmart Mexico, with whom a 15-year electricity supply agreement has been signed under the self-supply regulations of Mexico.

- EDF Energies Nouvelles is 50% owned by French state-controlled utility group Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR).
