Toshiba licenses TTPCom's handset design to enter European market

Toshiba to supply phones to KPN Mobile for European i-modeO service

Cambridge, UK, 12 March 2002. TTP Communications plc, the world leading
independent supplier of technology for digital wireless communications, (LSE:
TTC) ("TTPCom") today announces that Toshiba Corporation has licensed TTPCom's
complete handset design, InTouchO, for use as Toshiba's new European GPRS
i-modeO phone, the TS21i. This will be the second GSM/GPRS handset to offer
access to i-modeO services in Europe. Toshiba's new European handset division
has been chosen by KPN Mobile to supply phones for its i-modeO service in
Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Toshiba expects the phones to be commercially available during the second half
of 2002. "Toshiba is very keen to expand its operations outside Japan and we
are confident that the exciting services and content available through this
handset will prove a strong attraction to users in Europe," said Seiji Yasunaga,
General Manager of Toshiba's European Mobile Communications Division. He
continued, "we were impressed with TTPCom's suite of technology and their
complete design provided us with a fast route to market".

Tony Milbourn, Managing Director of TTPCom stated, " Toshiba's choice of the
InTouch design for their handset in Europe demonstrates the strength of our
advanced technology offering to our customers. We believe that GPRS combined
with i-modeO is a new proposition for users and could really excite the market.
By supplying the full range of wireless technology required to create a handset,
and with our leadership position in mobile technology, we are able to offer our
clients both a fast track to market and innovative new features."

Handset features

The TS21i handset offers advanced features such as a large colour screen,
picture download, email, polyphonic ringing capabilities and high-speed
data-access using GPRS. The phone will be manufactured in Taiwan under
Toshiba's recognised quality manufacturing process.

This partnership builds on TTPCom's existing relationship with Toshiba, to which
TTPCom has licensed dual-mode 3G/GSM technology for the development of baseband
chipsets for wireless terminals, as announced in November 2001.
