THE LONGMEAD GROUP PLC ("the Company")


The Company announces that, due to disappointing sales in
the last quarter, results for the second half of the year
ending 29 July 2000 are expected to be considerably below
those achieved in the first six months ended 29 January
2000.

The Company's balance sheet, however, remains strong and
cash flow is satisfactory.
