Issue of Shares

This announcement replaces that released on Friday 22 February 2008, in its
entirety.

Merrill Lynch New Energy Technology PLC announces that on 22 February 2008, it
allotted, subject to listing, 750,000 ordinary shares (the "Shares") to a
market participant at 66.59 pence per Share representing 0.31% of the ordinary
shares in issue.

The number of shares issued under the current authority totals 750,000. A
further 23,350,000 shares are available for issue under the authority granted
at the Annual General Meeting held on 6 February 2008.

The shares in issue following this notification are 241,750,000.

Application has been made to the UK Listing Authority for a blocklisting for
24,000,000 ordinary shares to be admitted to the Official List and to the
London Stock Exchange for the shares to be admitted to trading. It is expected
that admission of the Shares will become effective at 8.00 a.m. on 28 February
2008.
